Luna Pro Team: The Ladies are Locked & Loaded

On any given World Cup race day, one of the three Luna Pro Team mountain bike athletes — or combination thereof — is likely to be standing on the podium.

Between Catharine Pendrel, the cross-country World Cup overall winner in 2010; Georgia Gould, arguably the strongest American mountain bike racer (sorry Willow!); and Katerina Nash, a veteran competitor who knows her way around a bike (think World Cup cyclocross podium threat and 2009 Downieville Classic All-Mountain champ), the Luna Pro Team is loaded for bear.

Individually, each rider is a top gun. As a whole, the team is the top-ranked women’s XC team in the world.

Need proof? World Cup #1 last year at Dalby Forest, UK: Nash third, Gould fourth. World Cup #3 in Germany: Pendrel first, Gould second. World Cup #5 Italy: Pendrel second, Nash fifth (as she was in Switzerland in WC #4). And at the season finale in New York it was Pendrel first and Gould third.

All that backed by ten years of Luna’s legacy on the cycling scene: Alison Dunlap, Marla Streb and Shonny Vanlandingham, the reigning Xterra world champion.
