Round-Up: 24 Hours in Arizona

Anthony “Ant” White of the UK won the solo division at this past weekend’s 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo outside Tucson, Arizona.

At the event itself, dust storms and frigid temperatures, unusual for this time of season, accompanied White and the nearl 2,000 other racers. White dominated the solo men race by completing 18 laps.

The 16.1 mile course was a bit deteriorated by the rain falling the previous night, according to Todd Sadow, of race organizer Epic Rides. White timed laps between 1:04 and 1:34, eventually completing a total of 18 laps which was enough to claim the victory in the solo category. Jonathan Davis was second with 16 completed laps, while Kip J. Biese followed on third with 15 laps.

Lindy Lee won the solo women’s race with 13 completed laps, followed by Timari Pruis who completed 11 laps.

In the men’s duo category, Pivot Cycles battled the Trek Bicycle Store throughout the entire race, with both clocking 20 laps. However, Pivot was the fastest, being just 27 minutes faster than Trek.

The 4-person men’s race was won by Velocidad Maxima who eked out just an 18-minute victory over the Epic Endurance Team. No Tubes Elite Women’s Team comprised of Kathy Sherwin, Nina Baum, Shannon Gibson, and Kaila Hart dominated the 4-person women’s race. They won by two full laps over the Book Club team.
