Just ordered the E SM 322. This will be my second pair of Exustar Shoes. My first pair have over a thousand miles of nasty rocky single track, log crossings and just general abuse! The fit on the first pair was snug, but I chalk it up to Euro sizing. Hopefully the new ones will fit better. The Carbon sole is super rigid and tough, although they did get nasty scratches on them (oh my). Not sure about the traction on wet rocks, I usually ride over them...After wearing them all day on several occassions, I have found much greater physical pain than 'hot spots' under the cleats to worry about. I'm a Repeat Buyer, Nuff said!

Just ordered the E SM 322. This will be my second pair of Exustar Shoes. The first pair are now a few years old but are holding up incredibaly well. Always thought the fit was a bit small but chalk it up to Euro sizing. The first pair I bought were a great deal for the features and I have no complaints whatsoever. I probably have well over a thousand miles in the saddle with them. The ratchet buckle is awesome and the carbon soles, although got scratches on them (oh my goodness), are super rigid. I never considered the walking comfort or traction of a MOUNTAIN BIKE shoe. I prefer to ride over the wet rocks! I'm a repeat buyer. Nuff said!

Have to disagree with most of this review. I had a pair of these shoes (maybe an earlier model, but looks the same).

The durability was pretty poor. The sole finally cracked on me a few months ago (a horizontal crack right below where the cleat was mounted), after only about 12 months of use. It was super stiff, but the traction on the bottom left a lot to be desired, especially on wet rocks. It also got scratched up royally.

I also had the hot spot under the cleats, and just never really felt like the fit was that great with this shoe. Definitely not a shoe I would want to be wearing all day.

All in all I think you get what you pay for with this shoe, it's just really not that great.

I also found this pressure induced hot spot...and even cutting the cleat bolts, it is still there in my Exustars. Otherwise this would be a supreb shoe.
