In an ironic twist of history and government, California State Parks have proposed opening a short but sweet piece of singletrack on Mt. Tamalpais in Marin County. Bill’s Trail is a four-mile loop that is proposed to be open on alternating days of the week. The International Mountain Biking Association is throwing its political weight behind the effort, as are many regional bike organizations, and hopes for not only a community, but a nationwide effort to support this proposal. Mt. Tam is one of the birthplaces of mountain biking as we know it today, and its trails gave rise to many of the industry’s leading pioneers and designers.
